I just can’t figure out what’s causing this at all
Been getting calls from staff saying they keep losing their settings, and have to frequently re-pin items to the windows 7 taskbar, and redo their email sig.
When I look at their PC I see the same thing:
user1
user1.DOMAIN
user1.DOMAIN.000
etc
Really need to get this sorted, but so far no joy…
After many attempts and rebuilds.. I finally got Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (aka SCCM, ConfigMgr) working – Yippee!
It now does virtually everything I need it to do
Many thanks to the guys at www.windows-noob.com and their excellent step-by-step instructions, without them I’d still be struggling to get this working
It’s done..
Spent the whole of half term installing a new print server and configuring all the printers so that the school can reduce the horrendous overhead on its printing costs.
All the colour printers are now set to print in greyscale only, except for the colour photocopier!
I’ve also installed and configured Papercut NG – an excellent application that will allow the school to monitor and charge for its printing by staff.
Staff will need to get used to the new charges 10p per greyscale page and 30p per colour page…
We can also “name and shame” those who are printing a lot, and relate it into how much of a tree they have used, along with how much CO2 they have produced…
Should be interesting to see how much money this saves…
Just recovered about 100GB of space on our file server after our delightful pupils copied over their music from their iPods..
Little buggers wont be able to do it again as I have now issued them with quota’s of about 250MB and working on a batch script that will remove any MP3 over 2MB in size…
